here is Ning, software that allows you to create your own social network for anything. i came to know about it when i joined WirelessJobs.com, a network created using Ning.
Ning was started by Marc Andreesen and Gina Bianchini. Marc, as you know, started Netscape.
try and use Ning. its really simple to use. if you like, you can use it to create an alumni for ex-NetApp employees.
